Using Web directories

Directories are curated lists of online resources that help you start your search with a broad topic (welfare, for example), and then narrow it down into more specific topics (such as appeals or disability benefits).

Directories are often a safer and easier method of searching for information on the Web because these resources have already been reviewed by the provider. Some directories charge a subscription fee.

Clicklaw is an example of a free directory for finding legal information. It provides links to information on a variety of legal topics, including family law; debt; pensions, benefits, and welfare; employment; housing; rights and citizenship; and abuse and family violence. It also includes information about the legal system.
